History

The Lord directed Apostle Louise Banks to come downtown and impregnate the greatest area of need.  Apostle Louise Banks founded Downtown Ministries, in February 1994.  Downtown Ministries started under the leadership of the Frederick Worship Center.  Senior Pastor Louise Banks held her first Sunday morning worship service on Easter Sunday in 1994.

In January of 1998 Downtown Ministries, Inc. was formed and came under the spiritual covering and oversight of Apostle Robert (Bob) Terrell of Foundation Ministries.  The ministry then went under the spiritual covering/oversight of Apostle Rene Brown of Foundation Ministries.  In 2001 Downtown Community Church came under the spiritual covering and oversight of Apostle Louise Banks.

Downtown Community Church is under Downtown Ministries, Inc.  Other ministries and business are a part of the vision for Downtown Ministries, Inc.

In December 2002, Reverend Jerold L. Banks heard the Lord call him to the Senior Pastor position of Downtown Community Church.  In January 2003 he stepped into that position. Pastor Banks received direction from the Holy Spirit that He wanted a congregation that would be an assembly after the Father’s Heart.  That we as a congregation would not mimic what other churches do.  In December 2005, at the direction of the Holy Spirit the church was renamed “First Love” and given a global mission.
